Building Pathways to Women's Shelters in Cambridge

Novemeber 20, 2026 | 5:30-7:30 P.M.

Unit 201, 58 Grand Ave. S. the Gaslight Dirstrict, Cambridge, ON.

Presented by The Forum at Fabrik in collaboration with the University of Waterloo School of Architecture and YWCA Cambridge, Beyond Shelter brings together an exhibition of student architectural proposals and a multidisciplinary roundtable discussion exploring the need for a permanent women's shelter in Cambridge.

Building on the students' work, the discussion brings together perspectives from social service providers, architects, and municipal leadership to examine how cities can better support vulnerable populations and what it takes to turn architectural visions into reality. Through dialogue and collaboration, the event aims to identify challenges, opportunities, and practical pathways toward realizing safe, dignified, and supportive spaces for women in Cambridge.
